New Music Roundup – 15th April 2025

The Lifeline – The Bells

Release Date: 28th March 2025

Jamming in Nashville, Tennessee has likely been the source of hundreds of rock and metal tracks over the past few decades and for The Lifeline it proved too much to resist. ‘The Bells’ is their latest track and came about while just chilling out in one of the world’s most notable music cities. Slow and groovy from the outset, there’s an almost doomy feel to the vocals, with an unmistakable brooding feel.

Spectral Armour – Punch Down feat. Adrian Suljanovic

Release Date: 14th March 2025

Less than two minutes is all that it takes Spectral Armour, with Adrian Suljanovic in tow, to make it onto you playlist. Sadly, still needing to point out the toxic nature of men in the music scene, specifically Sydney in this instance, the track is a full assault of the senses with powerful vocals over a surprisingly groovy riff that leaves listeners needing more.

Fomented – What Can I Change?

Release Date: 28th January 2025

Metallic hardcore is such a fun genre if you like things in that heavy but still fun area and Fomented have got that down. ‘What Can I Change?’ mixes vicious vocals with some riffs that it would be a disservice to describe them as anything apart from fun. If you come out of ‘What Can I Change?’ without whiplash then, quite frankly, you’ve not listened to it right.

Pillowprince – R The Straights OK

Release Date: 14th February 2025

Single number two from American rockers Pillowprince asks a question that many have asked over the past few years. Tongue in cheek, not that the target audience would recognise that, and sharp-witted, ‘R The Straights OK’ is an indie anthem in waiting that turns the spotlight onto those who can’t get past their homophobia. Undercutting the message with such a delightfully sweet melody adds all the more power to the words.

Slung – Collider

Release Date: 13th February 2025

Slung are fast becoming one of the most exciting rock bands in the UK, just waiting for that moment that they explode. Tracks like ‘Collider’, another song in their repertoire that brings huge, comforting vocals together with catchy bass and drums that tickle that spot that only hard rock can touch. Keep releasing tracks like this and Slung are going to be going places.

PHWOAR – Reckless

Release Date: 28th February 2025

Closing us out today is ‘Reckless’ from British indie-rockers PHWOAR, a track that mixes a little bit of the polished nature of indie rock with a brash rawness that keeps the track feeling familiar yet fresh. Vocally it sometimes ticks over into that pained rawness that usually comes with live performance but elsewhere will give you a good bounce with some catchy melodies. A fun song, especially as the sun comes out.
