Perpetual Paradox – Laconic
Release Date: 28th August 2026
Landing comfortably in the more technical and slightly heavier side of metalcore, London-based Perpetual Paradox have been organically building their name over the past half a century as they continue to be one of the most consistent noises in the scene. ‘Laconic’ continues this trend with brutal ease. At just over four minutes long, the track varies from soaring guitars that at times feel almost power metal-esque, to the pounding drums and powerful vocals. ‘Laconic’ is a track that rewards multiple listens with something different to focus on each time.
FloodHounds – Got a Connection
Release Date: 2nd October 2026
Sure, that sort of alt-rock-cum-punk vibe that has been hanging around for the past few years seems to be fading away. All genres do. Thankfully, as they do there’s always a few gems that crop up and FloodHounds have a strong claim to being one of them, especially with ‘Got a Connection’. If you’re wanting a band that feels like a mid-noughties indie band but with a bit more edge, this might be for you. At the very least, the chorus will have you bouncing.
Swinging Astrid – Space Cadet Blues
Release Date: 2nd October 2026
Now ‘glitter grunge’ may be new to you as a genre name, but there’s little doubt that you’ll recognise the core of ‘Space Cadet Blues’ if you’ve listened to music in the past 40 years. Swinging Astrid have only been releasing music since January ’26 but there’s such a swagger to ‘Space Cadet Blues’ that really builds the excitement for their debut album (due out next month). The sultry combination of grunge and shoegaze isn’t new, but the ease at which they combine on this track is insane. Not since Unpeople have we been so excited for a debut album.
Without Guile – DIVERGE
Release Date: 9th October 2026
Closing us out here is some metaly-emo-post-hardcore from New York. ‘DIVERGE’ from Without Guile is a track that you’ll struggle to predict what’s coming next. The intro leans heavily into that metalcore vibe with harsh vocals that will get you pumped before the chorus hits and the cleans pick you up and almost force you to sing along. The energy is at max from start to finish. Good luck if you find yourself in a pit to this one.
