Single Review: Harker – Lights Go Out

Harker – Lights Go Out

Release Date: 17th November 2023

South coast punks Harker have been plying their trade since the beforetimes but 2023 saw a rebirth of a band that has become both well known and well loved in Brighton and the surrounding areas. Whilst 2023 hasn’t seen a full-length release, ‘Lights Go Out’ is the fourth and, sadly, final single of the year.

If you’re looking for a reference point for the band as you can’t hit that play button, Harker sit somewhere in the pop-ish punk world, straddling the worlds of Gaslight Anthem and Rise Against in equal measure. ‘Lights Go Out’ features husky vocals that spend plenty of time harmonising whilst begging you to go full voice alongside them too. Catchy as hell punky guitars are the real driving force on a track that will have you reaching for a pint and bouncing towards the barrier for their live show. This has set 2024 up very nicely!
