Jakob Samuel (Kryptonite, ex-The Poodles) is back with his first solo effort since Past Present was released nine years ago and the latest single, ‘Hey Brother’, keeps the classic melodic rock sound that Samuel is known for, whilst adding in the production of a modern rock band.
The lack of a guitar solo does make the song feel incomplete, though Samuel’s vocals keep you interested by mixing up his dulcet tones with a more distorted technique, slightly reminiscent of Jonathon Davis.
Jakob Samuel has created a sound that nods to his glam rock past whilst keeping his eye firmly focused on the future.
