Sprints – Swimming
Release Date: 5th March 2021
Genre: Post-Punk
‘Swimming’ introduces itself with a fuzzy guitar so irritating I thought there was a fault with my earphones, but sadly it didn’t change from there. There are reprieves in the form of Jack Callan’s excellent drum work and Sam Mccan’s strong bass lines but they are soon drowned out by vocals so shouty they almost make Kurt Cobain sound intelligible.
Whilst Sprints’ lyrics are not exactly complex, they do accurately portray the frustration people feel about inequality and politician’s response to it. This is raw, emotive and chaotic. If you want to rage at the world, ‘Swimming’ will get you there.
