Release Date: 26th January 2018

Self-Released

Vantablack Warship, a metal band from Montreal, Quebec, are releasing their new album on January the 26th. Abrasive Pulmonic Speak is the band’s first full-length album, following their self-titled EP.

The album starts with heavy and catchy Another Dead Rockstar, before heading into Black Tongue Bertha, a powerful track with heavy instrumentals and a combination of growl and screamo vocals. Track 3, Blood On The Mat features a nice opening riff and a continuous beat throughout. The album’s fourth track, Kill The Kid, shows further strong instrumentals and a repetitive yet catchy beat.

Ruderalis is a fast pace tune with more fierce vocals. Track 6, Abrasive Pulmonic Speak is another song with both strong vocal and instrumental element. The Blackhole is a track including a slower instrumental pace, which works well with the heavier vocals seen throughout the album. Abrasive Pulmonic Speak concludes with Crisis, showing an intense drum intro with a slower instrumental pace and some neat guitar riffs, before finishing with a heavy instrumental ending.

In conclusion, this track listing creates a fine first album for Vantablack Warship, however many of the songs sound very similar and there is little variation between them. Nonetheless, we can look forward to hearing any future material that this band release.

Recommended Track: Another Dead Rockstar

Rating: 7/10
