Don’t know about you but it’s not particularly often that we come across Puerto Rican metalcore. It’s probably even less often that it brings a fair few proggy elements into the mix for good measure. ‘We Won’t Break’ is the latest single from Caribbean five-piece Modules, a band that have been together now for over a decade, but have been relatively quiet (ironically) over the past few years.
With ‘We Won’t Break’ and 2025’s ‘Lost In The Snow’, the band are building on a catalogue that sees them experiment with more traditional metalcore sounds as the backbone of their music but, with ‘We Won’t Break’ especially, there’s a bigger focus on the more progressive elements of the genre.
A softer, slower intro where atmospheric strings lead to a solo before a word has been uttered. The reprise of this when the main solo hits later in the track is solid payback for five minutes of your time. Mix in chaotic drums and some huge riffs and really you’re looking at everything a metalcore song needs to be.
