Combining grungey-style vocals with progressive metal, Belgian rockers Queen Golem are back with a new track a couple of years after 2021’s Nomadic.
An abundance of atmosphere pours out of the single titled ‘Guidance By Light’, but it doesn’t quite lean into the ‘Tool-lite’ feeling of previous tracks and instead feels like the band are carving their own style. Soaring riffs with powerful vocals being at the heart of it – and that just can’t be a bad thing.
This feels like the sort of band you stumble on when you’re out for drinks on a city break, a band that’s too big for the pokey corner they’re stuffed in. An impressive comeback from the Belgians here.
