Who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned bit of punk? It hits most people’s radars at least a little bit with bands from Metallica through to Cancer Bats all taking inspiration from the genre. It’s just a bit tougher these days to be a band fully immersed in that genre.
Based in Florida, The Damnsels are channelling their inner punk and focusing it strongly on ‘Paper Machè’, a song as energetic as anything that came out of the heyday of bands like Pennywise and NOFX but as raw and powerful as punk should be at its core.
This is a band writing the music that they grew up on through their own eyes, hands and mouths. Drawing on inspiration is fine as long as you don’t copy it and that is what The Damnsels are doing to a tee.
