Hey, how ya doing?
Very well, thank you, just finished our UK tour!
So Plastic Barricades. Who are you and what do you do?
We are an indie rock trio from London with Dan Kert on vocals and guitars, Daniele Borgato on bass and Frazer Webster on drums. We’ve just released our first full length album “Mechanics of Life”,which you can hear here: https://open.spotify.com/album/71tNyY0qX5fNgTsoXD0r3t
You’ve just finished your first decade as a band. Did you celebrate?
The current line-up is active for the last 4 years, although the band was conceived in 2007 in Estonia. We didn’t really celebrate, we just went touring the country.
How does it feel to have been making music for so long already?
It feels great! The songs form sort of a documentary on our own lives, reflecting happy and sad moments. It is funny to listen to the old tracks sometimes, but they still resonate with us.
Do you have a plan to take the next step in your career?
Always! Our new album is out now on Spotify and iTunes, we’ve just finished our UK tour. Now it is time to write some new exciting material while still working on promoting the album, playing charity events and getting ready to meet and greet 2018. Next year plans include extensive touring and summer festivals, where we will combine album material with new songs. USA also sounds very tempting.
You’ve done a few shows around the country the last few weeks. How have they gone?
The tour was very hectic, but in a good way. We’ve played 11 dates in a month. Incredible crowds in amazing venues, we cannot complain. We’ve covered 4000 miles, got to sleep at a venue once, played Cluedo, discovered Chester, were always late everywhere because of traffic, didn’t brake down except once, couldn’t find the van twice, played legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool and an album launch party at our favourite London venue – Proud Camden. We were also honoured to headline Oxjam Islington charity festival in October.
Is there a venue you haven’t played for a while that you’re aching to get back to?
We are approaching 100 gigs played – and we have very rarely played the same venue twice. It is always fun to discover new places and be adventurous. So we mostly look forward to playing new venues, like Sheperd’s Bush Empire, Koko, Rock City, King Tuts Wah Wah Hut and others. Cavern was very cool, though! Would love to be back there next year! Same goes to Live Rooms in Chester and Mr Wolfs in Bristol.
Finally, thanks for talking to us. Any last words?
It is a very special time in Plastic Barricades camp. Our “Mechanics of Life” album finally came out and we would love to share our excitement with you, here are all the links:
