Festival Preview: Mammothfest 2017

Positioned at the very end of festival season, Brighton’s Mammothfest is fast becoming a household name in the metal scene and 2017 sees them book their finest lineup to date. Covering death, black, doom and various other examples of extreme metal, it comes as no surprise that people are starting to take notices.

After recently adding Amenra as their Sunday night headliners, joining Rotting Christ and Fleshgod Apocalypse, with Vodun slotted underneath the Mammothfest organisers have completed their lineup with the final poster looking like this:

With a main stage containing Rotting Christ, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Amenra as headliners there is always going to be a big interested from the metal scene, but it’s when you head to the Rikstock Stage that you see why this festival has the potential to grow. 23 bands across 3 days that encompass everything that is good about metal in 2017..though even the most ardent metal fan would be doing very well to know even half of them at this stage in their career.

Not only that but with the festival being held at The Arch in Brighton you can stumble out each evening straight onto the beach and sleep it off before it all starts again the next day…or have a nice stroll on the beach before heading back to a hotel. Your choice.

So, it’s all well and good us showing you the lineup, but who should you be watching? Don’t worry, the Mind Noise Network must see bands are here as recommended by those that will be attending the festival:

Alex Mumford recommends: Rotting Christ, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Dragged Into Sunlight

Dan Hemming recommends: Abhorrent Decimation, Necronautical, Damaj

Aimée Thomson recommends: Vodun, Akercocke, Thuum

So there you go, nine bands that we recommend with three videos for your viewing and listening pleasure. If you’re still somehow on the fence, head here for our festival playlist.

So, that’s it…you must be convinced to head along now? Good, where can you get tickets though? Good point. Here you go: https://mammothfest.uk/store/

Good stuff. We’ll see you there then!
