With a album coming out in just a couple of months, it’s only right that the hype train for the new Cam Cole album gets rolling. With a few songs yet to come before Lost In Creation hits the streaming shelves, ‘Get Up Ya Honky Tonk’ is the first chance to hear new music from the rags to riches, London based multi-instrumentalist (a talent that you’d likely recognise if you’re a Ted Lasso fan).
With his signature guitars tuned to ‘psychedelic as hell’ and vocals that manage to be catchy as hell in places, but are sometimes so hard to understand that a bottle of moonshine feels like the only remedy. ‘Get Up Ya Honky Tonk’ feels like one of those set opener types of songs. The ones that the band wanders on stage, jams out for a bit and then unleashes all sorts of hell once they’re in their stride. If you’ve kept up to date with Cole, you’ll know it doesn’t take much to hit that stride too. October the 30th could be an exciting date for guitar music.
