Albums of the year 2025

There’s been a lot of fantastic albums and EPs that have been released this year, these are just a few of our favourites from 2025.

Deafheaven – Lonely People With Power

In a triumphant return to form, Deafheaven’s sixth studio album Lonely People With Power not only pays homage to their fans, but also confidently continues to raise the bar in spite of the shadows cast from their previous cult classics. Intensely decadent and magnetically enrapturing blackgaze, this release is as ambitious as it is visceral.

As December Falls – Everything’s On Fire But I’m Fine

Everything’s On Fire But I’m Fine doesn’t just reflect the chaos of being young right now, it screams it back at you. There’s heartbreak, denial, and defiance all crammed into 35 minutes of adrenaline-fuelled pop-punk goodness. With the absolute anthems of ‘Everything’s On Fire But I’m Fine’ and ‘Therapy’ leading the album. It doesn’t take long for the key theme of the album to come through with tracks like ‘For The Plot’, ‘Rewrite’, and ‘I’m No Good Alone’ turning the emotional mess of dating in the digital age into a full-body release. From start to finish, the album is wrapped in 2000s and 2010s nostalgia but rooted firmly in the now. It doesn’t just offer answers, it sits beside you on the floor, lets you cry it out, and turns falling apart into something loud, validating, and weirdly comforting.

Bury Tomorrow – Will You Haunt Me, With The Same Patience

With Bury Tomorrow‘s eighth studio album, they show no signs of stopping with this album, firmly solidifying themselves in British heavy music. It’s brooding, brutal and bounding with catharsis, if you haven’t taken the time to listen to this album in full yet, you’re missing out.

Hyphen – This Might Be It

Hyphen’s newest EP This Might Be It certainly packs a punch. With all the political angst we love, wrapped up in the signature catchy chants that inject a bit of fun in shouting out against this sh*tshow of political turmoil that hangs like a dark cloud over 2025. Uniting people, having fun, and utilising his platform to speak up, all while in tiny shorts. There is nothing to not love about this punchy EP, that will have even the grumpiest of souls tapping their feet.

Lastelle – Exist Vol. ii

Beautiful. Brutal. Baring. This EP rips you apart and pulls you back together in one swift movement. Even outside the lyrics, the music itself takes you on a journey, you’ve survived the battle but at what cost? With Lastelle‘s signature drawn out and depth inducing riffs before the lead melody echoes through it all. Coupled with the duo of vocals, Adam Rigozzi’s unwavering screams and Mike Hayden’s powerful delivery, it’s a wonder anyone’s able to get though a track without screaming right back at them, especially during ‘Tired Eyes’. Allowing a small interlude for the listeners to collect themselves before ‘Bitter Seeds’ lets the pain marinate further. And finishing off on the nearing 8 minute long closer with lyrics that will crack even the most guarded listener.

It’s an incredible feat to put out a song, let alone a whole EP, that recreates the exact feelings of the topics it’s trying to convey. With grief and loss being at the forefront and a dash of regular heartache, who needs therapy when you can just chuck on this EP and it will force you to feel your feelings.

Panic Shack – Panic Shack

If you’re ever in need of an album that is as catchy as it is relatable, Panic Shack’s self-titled debut album is what you need. The Welsh five-piece take on equality in the form of the abundance of pockets on men’s clothing, they bash society for the way women are portrayed in the news and media as well as satirising those with an alter-ego that ‘comes out’ when they’ve had a few pints (or more likely lines). Oh and don’t forget the oh so familiar problem of accidentally getting high while out for a run. A spectacular debut album that combines sharp humour with the unavoidable desire to dance.

Greyhaven – Keep It Quiet

Greyhaven and their album Keep It Quiet has taken our ears hostage since it dropped back in October. A perfect blend of heavy riffs, raw emotion and arguably the best outro sections of songs we’ve have ever heard, it’s unmatched in its diversity. This is an album to keep coming back to and not help but listen to in its entirety when I do. Highlights of the album include ‘Technicolor Blues’, ‘Cemetery Son’ and ‘Satellite In Love’.
