Delilah Bon is fresh off her sold out UK album run, but she’s back with a brand-new single ‘Not The President’. She reflects empathy for the fears and anxieties expressed by her fans in the aftermath of the US election. “A song about hope and belonging in a world that feels like it’s taking a hundred steps backward.” says Delilah Bon.

Delilah opened her inbox to her fans in the days following the US election, and was overwhelmed by the amount of messages from around the globe, from people who were struggling with the political climate. From women and young teenage girls to queer people, non-binary individuals, and fathers, fans shared their fear for the future. Delilah expresses, “I had people reaching out, telling me my music gave them hope in a world that felt like it was taking a hundred steps back. The messages were overwhelming – some of them had never felt so alone or afraid for their safety.”

Delilah continues, “I cried the entire set at my Bristol show at The Exchange in November,” which was just a couple of days after the US election. “Looking out at that beautiful, diverse crowd, seeing so many people from all walks of life screaming the lyrics, feeling a sense of safety and belonging – it pushed me over the edge. The hate I was seeing online, the hurt people were feeling, it made me want to combust with rage. But I realised that the world needs more than just rage right now. We need hope. The single artwork is a photo from that show. I will always remember that gig and the mutual love in that room.”

You can catch Delilah live in London at The Garage on the 21st March (rescheduled from November 2024), and at SlamDunk next May. Tickets are available now.
