prom – From The Wayside
Release Date: 12th September 2024
With vocals that are both raw and refined simultaneously, the deliciously delicate yet chaotic track, From The Wayside, from British emo outfit prom is the perfect amalgamation of 90s alt rock and modern emo punk. Energy and emotion pours out and implores you to listen to the album of the same name.
Reliquia – Secret Songs of the Barren Sky
Release Date: 16th September 2024
Not for the first time this week we’re raving about British rockers Reliquia, a band that are combining gothic rock with heavier influences on ‘Secret Songs of the Barren Sky’. It’s still just as dark and emotive but just a little more European in its overall vibe.
Maruja – Break The Tension
Release Date: 4th October 2024
‘Break The Tension’ from British post-punk outfit Maruja is a dynamically chaotic track pulling influences from various sections of alternative music. A track that could have been released at any point in the past 40 years, ‘Break The Tension’ is as unique as it is thought-provoking. This is a ‘hear it to believe it’ song.
Boy Bleach – Blood Honey
Release Date: 20th September 2024
Continuing the British theme of this roundup we have alt-rock/punk band Boy Bleach and their latest track ‘Blood Honey’. This entirely modern track has the punkish nature of bands like Kid Kapichi but with a bit more of an electronic vibe to it in places. This feels like another step in the right direction for a band with their finger on the pulse of alternative music right now.
Nekomata – In My Flesh
Release Date: 23rd September 2024
Italian metal outfit Nekomata released their latest single ‘In My Flesh’ at the end of last month and is a tale of a soft intro before the brutality begins. Whilst the clean choruses that are synonymous with metalcore are a bit jarring on the track, the sheer power that is on show for the rest of it makes up for it in spades. This is unrelenting.
The Haunt – Masochistic
Release Date: 20th September 2024
American punks The Haunt may be on the softer end of hard rock but their emo infused lyrics and danceable riffs are a force to be reckoned with. ‘Masochistic’ features Craig Mabbitt from Escape The Fate and hopefully that cameo will give the band the push that they really deserve. This is a fun one that you can just feel yourself wanting to jump around to.
Druid – Chokehold
Release Date: 26th September 2024
Finishing off with Aussie rockers Druid and their melodic metal track ‘Chokehold’. Aside from the breakdown towards the end, this is a track that just feels like it floats by in a wonderful haze of modern guitars and dual vocals. This is one to get yourself stomping and singing along to in a fit of contrasting emotions.
