SAME PAINS – candle memory
Release Date: 3rd October 2024
Progressive metalcore from Australia kicks us off here with ‘candle memory’ from SAME PAINS, a band that just don’t seem to be able to get their capitalisation right. ‘candle memory’ kicks off in what is now traditional metalcore style, brings screams into the mix and delves into more melodic vibes too. A track that pays off with subsequent listens.
Beach Weather – Hardcore Romance
Release Date: 23rd August 2024
‘Hardcore Romance’ is the catchy as hell track from American alt-rockers Beach Weather, a band that just by name have us longing for summer once again. The track follows a familiar path for the band with dirty (for alt-rock at least) vocals under almost pop-esque vibes. There will be an overwhelming urge to roll down windows and cruise in the Autumn chill when this pops on.
GR/EF – Groaning Applause
Release Date: 25th August 2024
What a summer GR/EF had. As if ‘Scaphism’ wasn’t big enough of a track, they’ve outdone themselves with ‘Groaning Applause’, a song title that gets the brain pondering immediately. A track based on the ability for people to create narratives of revenge when messed about, this track is all about the riffs. That and the singalong chorus of course.
Thrxnes – Ammunition
Release Date: 25h July 2024
British hard rock in the form of Thrxnes saw them grace July with ‘Ammunition’, a track that feels like a modern retelling of 80s rock with a modern American rock radio vibe in there too. You’ll want to sing along, dance along and headbang along all at once. Best get some cardio in.
Trap Girl – Death Dress
Release Date: 5th September 2024
Something with catchier guitars and rawer vocals is up next from Trap Girl, the modern American punks who are keeping one foot in old school punk too. While the vocals aren’t the strongest, they do push the narrative of the pain that has been caused by others well and in truth the song is so catchy you won’t notice anyway.
retsecroW(s) – Blood Sea
Release Date: 6th September 2024
A year in the making, ‘Blood Sea’ is the latest track from Midlands rock band retsecroW(s) (there’s a bit of a hint as to where exactly in there). With it having been debuted at live shows already, it’s nice to get the studio version where the full power of the track can be felt. These are an up and coming group and there’s plenty more to come.
Alas – Poimit menneisyydestä tuhkaa
Release Date: 17th September 2024
A delightful chunk of post-hardcore from Finland is next on the card as Alas drop the unmistakable ‘Poimit menneisyydestä tuhkaa’ with it’s enchanting melodies that take their places as the breeding ground for the emotionally charged vocals that are laced above.
Slung – Neurotic
Release Date: 12th September 2024
Some British indie in the form of ‘Neurotic’ from Slung sees the 90s alt-rock as the influence. An intro as sweet as anything grows and grows until it is unleashed, almost as if planned with the name and subject matter. With the beautiful vocals that are present throughout and the ever increasing tempo this track feels fresh and unique, regardless of that inspiration.
Wodan Boys – Karaoke Rockstar
Release Date: 26th September 2024
Dutch rockers Wodan Boys are back with even more fun ahead of a debut album in early 2025. ‘Karaoke Rockstar’ is taken from said album and is a full on, hold nothing back rock track that is guaranteed to get those ardent, arms folded at the back, rock fans at the very least having a bit of a bop while everyone else loses themselves in it.
Broken Jaw – Chicken Nugs
Release Date: 16th September 2024
Something a little more lighthearted from British metal punks Broken Jaw sees a track called ‘Chicken Nugs’ going far harder than it has any right to. groovy, heavy, comedic and sometimes philosophic. There’s only so much to say about this track when hitting the play button below would tell the full story.
