Bristol based alt-rock band Our Nameless Boy have released a brand-new single ‘Leaving Party’ following their 2021 debut album Colour From The Doves, which provided a personal account of vocalist Iain Gorrie’s battle with cancer.

Iain comments on the track, “‘Leaving Party’ was a reaction to the dangerous rhetoric of the likes of Suella Braverman et al. I guess I was trying to fill what felt to me to be a void in empathy, compassion and humanity left by such people. ‘LP’ is an attempt to write from the perspective of a father fleeing war with a young daughter, having lost his wife in a bombing. I try to imagine as best I can the sense of loss and hopelessness in a position like that (“… that decision, like my love, was taken from my hands”).”

“Our album (Colour From The Doves, 2021) was a very introspective piece, a reflection on my battle with cancer. Since then I have wanted to focus my writing more outwardly. It took me a little time to figure out what that focus and my angle should be, and I vaguely landed on an attempt to critique- but also better understand the modern human condition.”
