New Music Roundup – 17th July 2024

Nasty Neighbours – V.I.P.

Release Date: 13th June 2024

‘Fun-rock’ from Argentina kicks off with ‘V.I.P.’, a track that really leans into modern punk styles with catchy guitars but a softer vibe overall. Chatty vocals provide the punkiest elements while the lead guitar a head bopping amount of catchiness. This is a fun introduction to music from a country that isn’t overly known for its punk.

Bödel – Bilan Faller

Release Date: 13th June 2024

Sticking with the punkier side of things, but heading a touch heavier and over to Sweden, we have Bödel with their latest track ‘Bilan Faller’. Whilst musically it can get a bit repetitive, the grittiness of the guitars does give a feel of desperation. Something that is enhanced further by the shrieking vocals that override everything else that is happening. Standing still is not an option with this song.

Fates Messenger – Serpents Coil

Release Date: 28th June 2024

When the British do metal well, we do it really well. That’s what Fates Messenger are banking on with latest single ‘Serpents Coil’, a pounding track that is rooted in death metal, with a touch of some ‘core in there too. Booming vocals are sure to get the headbanging and some intense guitar work, especially as you head past the five minute mark, sets everything on fire.

No Treaty – Monolith

Release Date: 14th June 2024

Metalcore from the US up next with ‘Monolith’ from No Treaty. Despite opening like a song from one of Creeper’s EPs, it quickly moves into a more ‘turn of the century metal’ vibe. Whilst the song isn’t exactly rewriting the manual when it comes to metalcore, it feels like a more modern take that has frequent nods to its elders. Heavy but melodic, accessible but still a fun one to lose yourself to.

hiccup – BRAINDUMP

Release Date: 5th June 2024

The UK has a really strong scene coming through that represents punk values through modern styles. hiccup are looking like they’re going to be putting themselves in that conversation too, pushing electronic sounds into catchy drum beats that pull together to create some ridiculously catchy songs. ‘BRAINDUMP’ is just the third track from the London-based duo, but there’s little doubting that we’ll be hearing a lot from these!
