New Music Roundup – 16th April 2024

Annakye – Colours

Release Date: 12th April 2024

Just seven songs have made their way into the airwaves from Australian rockers Annakye, a band that are pure emotion from start to finish. ‘Colours’ is the latest single and feels like it absolutely flies through the four-minute run time. A long, heartfelt intro takes up a good quarter of the track, drawing the listener in before unleashing an emo inspired hard rock barrage that builds massively towards the last 30-seconds of the track. Lots of alt-rock fun to be had here!

Crown The King – Start It Over

Release Date: 13th March 2024

Sticking with the more emo end of punk rock sees Crown The King continue their trend over the past four years of releasing tracks with lyrics that are immediately relatable. From start to finish the Dublin based four-piece feel like a modern take on what is an incredible nostalgic sound for those ploughing straight through their thirties.

Carousel – Debt

Release Date: 29th March 2024

Track number two from London-based artist Carousel sees a huge track created the old-fashioned way. Recorded in guitarist Sam’s flat and promoted by the band themselves, things are starting organically and there’s no reason to think things aren’t going to snowball. Raw vocals over catchy beats and funky guitars, what ‘Debt’ does best is come across as being ‘real’ in a world where everything is overproduced. This is a band that you need to catch in a dark, dingy bar.

King In Yellow – Your Religion

Release Date: 22nd March 2024

So much good has come into the world from groups of mates randomly deciding to make music together and this is how Kingston, England based rockers King In Yellow have come to be too. ‘Your Religion’ was the fifth track the band released, with ‘Desire Paths’ releasing in April and much more in the pipeline. The band are just doing what makes them happy and are doing it well with the track all coming together in a haze of hard rock. Catchy drums lead the song in and expressive vocals join soon after, with the song’s title leaving little to the imagination in terms of the content of the lyrics. This could be an exciting year for this band!
