Norwegian hard rock from Cult Media sees ‘The Device’ hit the airwaves. The fact that this is just their fifth single to date will be surprising when you get into the song. The track is a tight affair that combines classic hard rock styles with a grungy style that gives it a feel of the 90s but with a modern twist. Whilst there are just the five songs to get your ears into, the catalogue that Cult Media are building is looking strong!
Embers Through The Fog – Sloth

American metal band Embers Through The Fog may only be in their infancy as a band but with tracks like ‘Sloth’ under their belt already there’s every chance this band is going to go big. With riffs as big as anything you’ve heard in the past 15 years, it’s lucky that this is where the band has spread their roots. That late noughties vibe runs throughout the track and with ‘410’ and ‘Groovy Tuesdays’ following a similar pattern, it is clear that this is a band with a clear style that is delivering it with aplomb.
Seven Cities Dead – Take This To My Grave (feat. Josh Gilbert)

Sticking in America but turning the core up a touch, Seven Cities Dead are another band that are taking influence from the noughties. Crisp cleans move through more angsty vocals into screams and squeals while all around them guitars create an epic atmosphere. Those with tickets to ‘The Poisoned Ascendancy’ tour should find a lot to like here!
Rotzak – Blind Vultures

Finishing up here we’re in Belgium with Rotzak and their latest track ‘Blind Vultures’. Halted by amazing year that was 2020, this is the first release from the band for a while and one that will have core fans on their feet. Chaos pours out of the track from the first second until the last with the odd moment of respite, short-lived respite though. Aggression and energy are here in abundance.
