Introducing: Order Of Owls – What Becomes

Order Of Owls – What Becomes

Release Date: 29th January 2024

Driving conversations around actions that they believe in, Melbourne, Australia based rockers Order Of Owls recently released their third single in the form of ‘What Becomes’. The song is a hard-hitting, track that pulls from several genres. Whilst it is heavily based in hard rock, the sort of ‘American Radio Rock’ style that is so popular over in the states, there are other elements in here that elevate track above just a bog standard rock song. There are touches of grunge and even a hint of nu-metal in places, all brought together by raw vocals that match the grittiness of the track perfectly. More bands need to write songs about what they believe in, especially when it’s around bettering one’s self.

Check out ‘What Becomes’ here and read our interview with the band:

Heya, thanks for taking the time to talk to us today! For those living under a rock, can you tell us a bit about yourselves as a band?

Order of Owls is a bunch of guys that just wanted to write good music and have fun while doing it. We want to share that enjoyment with our audience in the hopes they get to share in our journey.

You’ve just released new music, can you tell us a little about it and what it means to you?

What Becomes was designed to be a sonically engaging song that would take the listener on a journey through multiple levels. To accompany this, the lyrics were written in a way that was purposely left open to interpretation with a simple guide to think holistically when doing so. I wanted to inspire a higher level of thinking instead of one side or the other scenario.

Do you have a favourite track on there or is it like picking your favourite dog breed?

Oh that’s a hard one. There is a song yet to be released that I consider my favourite. But speaking towards what we have currently released, Speak Up and What Becomes are closely tied.

Can you give us an insight into how you write tracks and has this changed as you’ve become more comfortable working together?

Certainly. The process will start with a member coming to the band with an idea. Whether it be a new guitar riff or a vocal melody. We encourage each other to work with what we have and as a group, we flesh that idea out until a song emerges.

Sometimes this can take a while. Other times, the process is rather quick.

What was the original inspiration for you wanting to get into music and is the current style where you thought you would head?

I’ve always been around music growing up. But it would have been when I was in primary school singing in choir that I started to enjoy the performance element. I liked connecting to the audience and knew I wanted to be able to do it outside of school projects.

In high school, I started listening to rock and metal and enjoyed the energy those genres brought. The current style is different from where I thought I would land, but it’s a welcomed surprise.

Do you have any upcoming plans you’re excited about?

There are a few tracks we are working on that I’m very excited to release. Also looking forward to hitting the stage again at Melted Festival.

What’s the ultimate goal for the band? Headlining major festivals, playing a certain venue or just having as much fun as you can?

The ultimate goal for me would be to able to throw in the 9 to 5 and do this full-time. I love writing and playing shows. I also love to tour overseas.

Outside of the day-to-day band life, what gets you up in the morning?

I do Martial Arts in my spare time and love to spend time with my kids. I’m a bit of a gamer, so that’s how I relax.

Finally, are there any bands that you’d like to give a shout-out to?

Shout out to all the local Australian bands I’ve had the pleasure to play with over the years. Your passion for our craft keeps music alive
