HateWalker – Invasion
Release Date: 1st January 2024
American metal mob HateWalker lean a little more into the core side of things than more traditional sounds, though that’s not to say there isn’t a degree of old school in there. Vocally it feels completely modern from start to finish. Powerful, deep in places and almost shrill in others. Musically though it transitions from being delightfully brutal through to be somewhat melodic within seconds. A track to keep you on your toes. Literally and metaphorically.
TENSIDE – Pretty Lonesome
Release Date: 19th January 2024
Next year will see German outfit TENSIDE hurtle into their twentieth year as a band with little to no signs of slowing at all. With their sound rooted in that noughties metalcore vibe and rarely straying too far from their trusted area, the band still never struggle to make new tracks that sound fresh and innovative, even within their chosen genre. Here there are echoes of Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine but it still stands out on its own. Roll on year twenty!
Post Heaven – Far From Me
Release Date: 18th January 2024
With a breakout year in 2023, Aussie alt-metallers Post Heaven have all of the ingredients in the cocktail that is ‘making it as a band in the modern world’. Similar in style in places to the likes of Rolo Tomassi, but with some even riffier riffs, ‘Far From Me’ chops and changes between heavy and melodic at the drop of a hat. Each movement feels subtle and natural and the track as a whole is an enthralling listen.
Tangent – Stop and Think
Release Date: 22nd January 2024
Metallic hardcore with a tinge of just being that bit experimental brings us Tangent and their latest track ‘Stop and Think’. A song that from the very start sees the chaos running wild and barely relents through three and a half minutes of powerful vocals, exciting guitars and drums that wouldn’t be amiss in the best doom tracks. There’s an atmosphere on ‘Stop and Think’ that will have those grotty bars brought to their knees.
