American post-hardcore mob a New Sled Space returned with another album at the start of 2024, with ‘Everything On’ taken from the middle of Every Dream We Ever Had Was The Surface Of The Sun. The DIY band are machines when it comes to producing new music and what is most impressive is their ability to keep everything strong and consistent. Raw, full of pure emotion and both heavy and atmospheric. ‘Everything On’ is a great incentive to go back and dive into their catalogue.

Iridium – Hailstorm

Release Date: 5th January 2024

London metalcore outfit Iridium unleashed their new single, ‘Hailstorm’ (not that one), at the start of the month, marking their comeback in terms of studio releases. The track is the first since 2019 from the five-piece and sees vocals that are utter filth, breakdowns that are going to cause some serious injury in the pit and cleans that contrast those two parts delightfully. A well put together piece of metalcore music.

Black Row – Matador

Release Date: 29th December 2023

Combining alt-metal and metalcore with some nu-metal vibes, Czech metallers Black Row caught the back end of 2023 with their EP Nothing Is Real, Vol. 3 and with it opening track ‘Matador’. Sounding a bit like a lot of bands but nothing really like any of them, the six-piece a building a reputation as excellent musicians putting out punchy and fun music that feels raw and unique. It’s a good time to get in with these!

Parting With Origin – We All Wear Our Curses

With an EP released in April last year, Parting With Origin are a band that are hoping to push on through 2024. ‘We All Wear Our Curses’ is the opener and title track from the EP that is fast heading towards a year since it was released and the track is a polished affair that brings powerful vocals and chugging guitars together and forms a sound that will feel familiar within the metalcore scene.
