Track Of The Day

Introducing: Dude Safari – High In The Clouds

Dude Safari – High In the Clouds

Release Date: 12th January 2024

Grungey pop with a side of almost shoegaze in there, Dude Safari are back with a new track, ‘High In The Clouds’. The song is the first the band have released since 2023’s debut album YUSSUS.

From the very beginning, it is evident that the track name is represented perfectly in the style of the song. Just thirty seconds in and it would feel like a cliche to describe it as ‘floating’…but here we are. Vocally, musically, it most certainly floats along at a beautifully paced plod. Sometimes a single song is all that’s needed to force you to get lost in a band’s back collection. ‘High In the Clouds’ is that song.

Heya Jamie, thanks for taking the time to talk to us today! For those living under a rock, can you tell us a bit about yourselves as a band?

Sure! We’re a Grunge-Pop 4 piece from Surrey, we’ve been ‘ones to watch’ in 2022, 2023 and possibly in 2024 also. People seem to like watching us, the weirdos…

We released our debut album YUSSUS last year which got us some positive tickles. We’ve played some shows and even made a documentary film during out three years of existence.

You’ve just released new music, can you tell us a little about it and what it means to you?

‘High In The Clouds’ is our new single, it’s about getting caught up in dreams. The journeys you go on, reliving moments. Creating new ones. Phobias. Escapism. Dreaming is a fun ride right? HITC is my metaphor for dreaming.

We’re really proud of this track, as we are with the rest of the new songs. This one just edge it in being finished first. We tend to release songs when we finish them rather than worrying if they’ll hit differently.

Do you have a favourite track on there or is it like picking your favourite dog breed?

There’s a current favourite track in the new bunch for sure, I think it’s gunna be the single after this one! It starts with the letter S.

Can you give us an insight into how you write tracks and has this changed as you’ve become more comfortable working together?

For Dude Safari, I usually demo a whole track before sending it to the others. I find it easier than explaining or playing it to them at rehearsals. They can get a quick glance into where my heads at with it that way. We’re lucky that we all record at home (apart from the drums), so we just fling ideas over our Google Drive at each other, building the songs up gradually.

What was the original inspiration for you wanting to get into music and is the current style where you thought you would head?

I personally always wanted to be in a band, I got the bug from seeing the likes of Reuben, Exit Ten and Skindred in my hometown. I then played solo for years doing shows everywhere in the UK and Europe, and then continued in a Garage-Rock band for a further few years. I guess I like a lot of different genres of music so I’ve always been open to joining new projects or combining them. Dude Safari is just another arrow to the genre bow. I love grunge. I also love Pop Rock/Punk.

Do you have any upcoming plans you’re excited about?

We plan to continue as we started with our debut record. Release a single every 6 weeks or so for the best part of a year which may lead into album two? We’ll play some shows too. So yeah I’m excited about it all really. I love releasing the songs as we finish them. It clears the head.

What’s the ultimate goal for the band? Headlining major festivals, playing a certain venue or just having as much fun as you can?

The ultimate like every band would be to do it full-time. Even if it just paid the bills. But realistically, to play to as many people as we can. To continue to reach people around the world. Put a smile on their face. Feed their ears. Opening a few cold ones. Meeting kind humans. It’s all an experience.

Outside of the day to day band life, what gets you up in the morning?

My alarm. It’s haunting.

Finally, are there any bands that you’d like to give a shout out to?

Thanks for your time! Is there anything you’d like to say or promote while you’re here?
