New Single Roundup – 7th December 2023

Breed – Menace

Release Date: 4th December 2023

From Orlando, Florida (in the ….but we all knew that), Breed are quickly becoming a household name in the area and branching out from that area just as quickly. Listening to any of the bands tracks its hard to think that they’ve only been around since 2019 such is the tightness of everything that the band does. To gel into something so cohesive and powerful so quickly is a great sign for a band and releasing tracks as huge as ‘Menace’ is even better. Opening up in pure modern metal style, the track grows and grows for 50 seconds before transforming into the heaviest of groovy rock tracks. Rough around the edges vocals, drums that evolve throughout the track, whiplash inducing riffs. This is massive.

Fastwalker – Another Dose

Release Date: 2nd December 2023

American rockers Fastwalker dropped their latest single, and only the second they’ve ever released, a few days ago in the form of ‘Another Dose’. The band and this second track pull inspiration from various periods of the last few decades. There’s the grungey underbelly that’s prevalent throughout and gives the track a heavier feel than it might otherwise have, but most importantly there’s the hardcore punk flesh. The Turnstile vibes are evident throughout, but this is no carbon copy. ‘Another Dose’ has the catchy riffs and the energetic drumming plus vocals that reside more in that early 90s period of music where they are both raw but ultimately accessible. This track is a great chance to get in on the ground floor with a band with serious potential.

Alberta Cross – Crooked House

Release Date: 17th November 2023

With a mix of English and Swedish members and influences across the board, Alberta Cross are bringing a subtle mix of British indie and a more classic rock vibe. ‘Crooked House’ features not only this unique blend but also the talents of Band Of Skulls too, collaborating for the first time and showing how special music can be when great minds come together. The track sits towards the heavier end of indie and features a catchy bassline and soaring vocals that come together to form a rock track that will get even the most ardent of music fans tapping away. ‘Crooked House’ doesn’t do anything too flash or over the top, it’s just rock ‘n’ roll at its purest.

Sunshine – Kein Gott

Release Date: 6th December 2023

As if the juxtaposition between the band name and track title wasn’t enough, Sunshine and their new release ‘Kein Gott’ are bordering on being an enigma on top of that. The German melodic death metal band, that are bringing grind and punk into the mix too, kick off with what seems like it will be pretty standard death metal track. The riffs are huge, the drumming bordering on pummelling. What’s not to like really? Then the vocals come in. The combination of gutturals and screams isn’t new here but when it’s backed by some ridiculously groovy guitars it’s hard not just let go of those facial muscles and gurn. This is Sunshine’s first release of the year, following a demo EP in 2022, and there is so much more to come from them!
