Autumnboy: The Fest Shalom Interview

Ahead of this weekend’s Fest Shalom, we caught up with Autumnboy about all of their plans for the festival.

What has the reception to Autumn Forever been like?

So far great! Really what I want is to express myself fully and benefit my audience with that expression. The response so far has been incredibly positive, the most positive reaction yet! So I feel that I’ve achieved what I’ve set out to do.

How will you be picking your setlist for the Fest Shalom set?

I want to make sure that I pick songs that not only reflect me as an artist the best, but also translate well into a live context. I’ll be playing Fest Shalom with a full band, so having songs that I know will match that energy is incredibly important to me. Especially as I know there will be people there that haven’t heard me before!

Where have you found inspiration during the pandemic?

My inspiration normally comes from my emotional processes and other artists I love. I feel as if that hasn’t really changed much during the pandemic, but it did give me new experiences to draw from, and more time to listen to music! Not only that but haven’t the limitations of being stuck in your home gave me new eyes for making music (like working solely through video chat and file sharing with producers) and making content in general. Its crazy how much different content you can make in just your bedroom alone if you’re forced to keep it interesting!

Which band on the Fest Shalom lineup are you most excited to catch and why?

Probably americansignlanguage, I absolutely love those guys and I feel they take inspiration for their music from a lot of similar places to me. The raw emotion they have is beautiful and almost uncomfortable at points, that sort of thing is challenging and brilliant to me, I relate to it a lot. It’s also one of their last shows and I am so psyched that I get to share it with them.
