Hardbeat’s Guide To The Sometimes Festival

There’s no need to pinch yourself: Festivals really are happening again! Next up for Hardbeat is a trip to Eastbourne for The Sometimes Festival on Sunday 22nd August. Not only is the line-up stacked with an abundance of killer bands but all money raised is going to support the brilliant work that Samaritans do. Do you need any more reasons to go? Well here’s our preview of the line-up to feast your eyes upon, just in case you needed any more persuading.

Brightr is an acoustic guitarist performing emo pop songs, putting on live shows that are self-described as sitting “somewhere between a strange party & group therapy”, and if that doesn’t intrigue you, then just wait until you hear some of the audacious covers that Jack The Envious have up their sleeves… Due to Covid-19 reasons, As Sirens Fall have sadly had to withdraw from the event but have been replaced at short notice with heavy rock outfit I Within and the powerful Estelle Mey

Moving up the bill you’ll find the brilliant My Everest, Maypine and Hear Lies, all of whom are armed with soaring melodies and worthy of a pint being held aloft by those in attendance. Bleak Soul might be a familiar face for fans of As It Is, as their former guitarist Benjamin Langford-Biss will be treating fans to his solo project. Anti-pop grunge outfit Y!KES are going to bring copious amounts of attitude and angst to the south coast, while RXPTRS will be providing a healthy dose of metal to the day festival. Has Eastbourne seen a wall of death before? We’ll be sure to report back. Lastly, All Ears Avow are sure to put on an energetic show of pop-infused rock with melody and heart for their headline slot, and worth the entrance fee alone.
