ArcTanGent Festival has hit with an announcement of another 21 bands to play the 3 day festival. They’ll be joining the likes of And So I Watch You From Afar, Glassjaw, Shellac, Jamie Lenman, Rolo Tomassi and more!
The most exciting announcement of the bunch is that of a Pijn and Conjurer collaboration, a top secret project named Curse These Metal Hands. Having already jammed for 12 hours, the bands have created an expansive epic that they assure will push both to far more ambitious territories than they’ve yet explored.
Not content on performing just once, Conjurer will also be playing a standalone set. After the release of their album ‘Mire’ earlier on in the year, they have created rumblings in the scene, entirely down to the fact that they managed to make a record that makes the strongest person tremble. With tar thick riffs and sludge galore, Conjurer are not a band to be missed.
With their own stage at the festival, Holy Roar Records are no stranger to ArcTanGent. Already bringing a lot of their artists along to the festival; møl, Boss Keloid and OHHMS have come on board to add to the extensive list of reasons as to why Holy Roar will dominate the ATG.
Boss Keloid frequent heavy metal stages and never fail to astonish due to their multi faceted and ever exciting music. OHHMS are the awe-inspiring band who managed to make it onto the record label simply by sending in their tapes, the second band ever to achieve this with Holy Roar. If stoner rock and psychedelia is your kind of thing, well they’re the new band for you.
møl are a Danish band, born out of a desire to make music that merges their love of shoe gaze, alt rock and metal. Despite going through numerous lineup changes, they’ve discovered a blackgaze relentless sound. It’s filthy, and that’s what makes it beautiful.
Veering away from Holy Roar darlings, the festival boasts the likes of Japan’s Mouse On the Keys who quite literally sound like nothing your ears have heard before, or your eyes will have seen live, they’ve invented a genre. One would need 1000 words to fully discuss the sound of this band but if a trio featuring a drummer, pianist and keyboardist together sounds interesting to you… you should know that they make post-rock infused jazz epics drawing in dance influences, classical music and heavy metal. So yeah… prepare yourself, they’re intense.
Completing possibly one of the best festival lineups of the year are Plini, Tides of Man, Poly-Math, Jean Jean, Blueneck, Orchards, Halo Tora, Bad Sign (who are a treat live. Read our review of their latest album here), Natalie Evans, Death and the Penguin, Coldbones, Black Futures, Seven Colour Drive, Codices and Only Echoes Remain.
