Despite not releasing any new material for over a year Arizona Metalcore stalwarts embarked on a short UK tour and are currently tearing up Europe supporting Our Last Night. I attended the final hectic UK show in Southampton at the Talking Heads last Wednesday. I also managed to sit down with Kaya from UK hardcore newbies Blood Youth who were supporting them on this short stint.
Southampton natives DEFERENCE (6) open tonight, and whilst they didn’t perform in front of the most receptive crowd of the night, their tight musicianship and professional onstage antics make them ones to watch in the future. I’m sure you’ll see them on the site in the future.
You can tell that the hype surrounding BLOOD YOUTH (8) is one that is starting to reach fever pitch as the crowd certainly start to get a little rowdier when they take to the stage with much of the crowd belting out the words to ‘Reasons to Stay’ and the first mosh pits of the night exploding to the tune of ‘failure’. The future certainly looks bright for Blood Youth, and according to vocalist Kaya we haven’t seen the last of them this year. Blood Youth hit Europe supporting Neck Deep later this month.
BLESSTHEFALL (9) have been at this game for over 13 years now and it certainly shows in their performance. With a setlist tracking the best part of their career, unfortunately passing over their debut which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, they well and truly tore the Talking Heads a new one. Whilst occasionally clean vocalist and part-time screamer Beau Bokan is relegated to somewhat of a glorified hype man while guitarist and main screamer Jared Warth rages away, his magnetic on stage presence means he always has the attention of the crowd whether he’s spraying much needed water into the crowd, inciting circle pits, or greeting the occasional stage diver. And whilst the crowd probably isn’t the largest the band has had on this tour they have them in the palm of their hands, and they certainly go all out for the final show of this short stint. Hopefully with a new album on the horizon we wont have to wait too long until will get to see them grace these shores again.
