With their debut album released just two days ago, The Serfers graced us with the third track from it a couple of weeks ago. A short, punchy affair that sets its stall out wit a catchy drum beat and raw vocals from the beginning and continues this even as the lyrics becoming a little more centred on repeating that track title over and over. A fun introduction to the band and one that will get you spinning DEBT SOUNDS in full.
Not The Author – Cause And Effect
Release Date: 9th September 2026
Canadian alt-rock from Not The Author in the form of ‘Cause And Effect’ and is a soaring track that borders a bit of metal with some more chugging guitars in places. On the whole though, ‘Cause And Effect’ is an alt-rock track with some stadium rock style choruses and singalong moments that will have you winding down the windows and “woaaaah”-ing at passers by. The build to the final 30 seconds of intensity is fun too.
Careful Gaze – Shallows
Release Date: 11th September 2026
Post-hardcore from the USA sees Careful Gaze release ‘Shallows’, an energetic track that manages to combine the frenetic nature of hardcore inside a controlled alt-metal framework. The first couple of minutes lean more to the post-hardcore sound, both musically and vocally but as the second half of the song kicks in there are more electronic elements that seep, the vocals become angrier and you’re left wanting to scream along. A powerful track from the Minnesotans.
Vault Hill – The Pain We Keep Alive

A barrage of Aussie metalcore came bursting out onto the scene at the end of last moth as ‘The Pain We Keep Alive’ from the recent album Modern Way. This snippet, the penultimate track of the record, serves as a delightful introduction to the four piece as it highlights inequality and oppression in northern Australia. The track transitions from harsh verses to soaring choruses but never loses a heaviness that will have you giving your neck a good workout. A powerful track with a powerful message.
miabelle. – Back On Your Feet

Toning things down a little now we have ‘Back On Your Feet’ from French pop-punks mirabelle., a track that starts nice before building into a new beast. Hints are there early on once the intro is through, some heavier guitar sections sit between cleans, the chugging begins in the background before hell breaks loose and we’re bordering on alt-metal in places. The vocals become more raw, the track as a whole gets somehow catchier and bouncier along with the heaviness dialling up.
Lily Darling – Back Machines
Release Date: 9th September 2026
Closing us out are German alt-rock quartet Lily Darling and their latest single and opening track from latest EP At First Blush, ‘Bad Machines’. Clangy guitars are the basis for this track that borders indie as much as rock. A song that would have done very well releasing 20 years ago in the UK as that indie wave pushed through the country, there’s an urgency from start to finish that will have everyone bouncing.
