VICES – Silence

Kicking us off in part two is North West rocky metal outfit VICES and their latest track ‘Silence’, a name that never fails to raise a wry smile when a hard rock band covers it. A lovely little piece of irony for sure. Here, the fifth song the band has released continues their signature style of soaring choruses that lift the energy of each subsequent verse. The track starts energetic, sure, but where it ends up after a few minutes feels frenetic in places. A fun song that will have crowds dancing for sure.
Buried In Spring – Dissipate

Five piece American post-hardcore band Buried In Spring are back with their second single and continue to merge the signature post-hardcore sound with some alt-rock that allows both vocals clean and screamy to stand out on a bed of emotive guitars. From the first minute your mins will be pondering over how much influence a certain Canadian band have had on them. ‘Dissipate’ is modern and authentic, wearing its heart deep inside its chest. Get ready to pick your vocalist and let loose out of open car windows.
FINICK – Glass in the Driveway

Sticking in North America sees us take in some ‘Glass in the Driveway’ from 19 year old FINICK, a singer-songwriter that is firmly living in the indie-rock world, with more than a tinge of punk thrown in for good measure. With a view to find fans that like to lose themselves in the music, FINICK is creating musical narratives that draw on their own experiences to allow others a method of escape. Searing energy from the guitars to the vocals, there’s no chance you’re staying still when this hits the speakers.
Perennials – Subliminal Crush
Release Date: 26th August 2026
Taking a massive detour now, Canadian outfit Perennials continue to sit betwixt many a genre. Born from the ashes of a punk band at the back end of the twentieth century, they now pull influences from almost all areas of alternative culture. Casting your brain to a different element every few seconds picks out the grittiness of the 90s grunge scenes, a huge touch of the likes of Tool in the composition and bass that you can feel in your soul. Don’t write the rawness off here, the track is better for it.
Kit Major – Brain Stew
Release Date: 24th August 2026
We don’t really cover many covers here and that’s mostly because they’re usually just a carbon copy of the original. While the core of Green Day’s ‘Brain Stew’ survives the Kit Major redo, certainly through the first chorus at least, there’s more that enough to see that Major has taken and loved the original enough for it to feel as fresh as it does gritty. Recorded for the Punk Rock Radar x Coffin Curse Records Green Day tribute record, this one feels like a “thank you” as much as it is a cover.
