Hype Cycle – Golden

Scottish hardcore outfit Hype Cycle have been about for a couple of years now but the five piece’s output has been limited to just the three singles. ‘Golden’ joins ‘Spite’ and ‘Choke’ to form their full catalogue, though May’s ‘Golden’ is more than double the run time of either, signifying a step away from the more the more classic hardcore vibe. Thankfully, it’s only that area that the band are changing as their energy level remains high. A powerful intro sees vocals seemingly battle against the drums before ferocious guitars take over. If the live show can be as chaotic as their studio work, they’ll be set.
A.N.J.A. – Jet Girl

Belfast four-piece A.N.J.A. have spent the past the last few years building a name for themselves locally and it seems just a matter of time before that spreads to the rest of the UK. There’s such dynamism in the frantic, raw vocals that span the whole track that it feels like they must have been recorded live. It doesn’t feel like someone could make those noises on cue. Combine the vocals with constant energy and intensity and ‘Jet Girl’ feels like the perfect song to awaken a love for a band you’ve only just heard of.
Kutie – Say What You Don’t Mean

Californian alt-rockers Kutie have been busy since their first release in 2024 with what feels like a constant stream of singles following their self-titled EP. ‘Say What You Don’t Mean’ is the latest in that line and combines the aforementioned alt with a heavy dose of post-rock, with guitars reminiscent of the 80s heyday of the genre. A slow burner for sure, but one that rewards your attention throughout.
Nothing Left To Say – Hoří Mé Srdce

‘Hoří Mé Srdce’, translating as ‘My Heart Burns’ from Nothing Left To Say’s native Czech, is an energetic metalcore track that pulls from that moment where you realise that to carry on you need to give yourself up to something. Frenetic throughout, but never as much as the twinkly guitar that pops in for the last few seconds, the track is pushed on through harsh, punchy vocals that will have you pounding at walls, if not wanting to burst through them.
O Cursa – Julius Seizure
Release Date: 12th June 2026
London punks O Cursa released the delightfully named ‘Julius Seizure’, a name that would have suited a post-hardcore band’s title as much as the dancy number that was released almost in June. While the chatty vocals don’t quite lend themselves to a good bopping, the bassline that pulls you through the first couple of minutes is infectious. Then, when most songs are due to wrap up, an indie underbelly exposes itself and you’ll find your body moving. While the indie-punk genre as a whole felt like it was going stale over the past couple of years, ‘Julius Seizure’ is evidence that there is so much for it to give.
