As we hurtle through summer, it’s about time that we started to catch up on everything that we’ve missed over the past few months!
BackIVBlood – State Of Mind

Starting with some powerful progressive metal from British outfit BackIVBlood and their single ‘State Of Mind’, released in May this year. Still their most recent single, the opens starts with an intriguing riff. One that forms the basis of the whole track, in one way or another, as it alternates between sitting quietly in the background and forcing its way to the front. Backed by addictive drums and harsh vocals that are raw and excited and you can feel how huge this track can be live.
Lovedrop – PRETTY GIRLS SHOULD ALWAYS SMILE

Modern metal has been flooded with electronic vibes and views that aren’t quite as archaic as some traditionalists would probably like. Italian band Lovedrop have been one of the driving forces for this in the home country and feel primed to take that globally, with tracks like ‘PRETTY GIRLS SHOULD ALWAYS SMILE’ and, more recently, ‘TELL ME (BREATHE ME IN) combining huge choruses, progressive views and killer solos. Lovedrop seem to be a band that can do it all.
Wirefall – I stand
Release Date: 14th May 2026
Sticking on the continent, Polish metalcore mob Wirefall are continuing to release anthemic metalcore that is seeing their stock rise massively with each track. ‘I stand’ is no different, offering a taste of the early 00s with vocals that range from nu-metal to Trivium in seconds and soaring guitars that will have you wanting to run through walls for the band. They’d probably be happy with a bit of aggressive headbanging though.
Sick pay – My Idols
Release Date: 1st May 2026
Bringing it back to the UK, Sick pay released their latest track ‘My Idols’ at the start of May and it’s one that it’s clear will be on repeat. The Glaswegian quartet have released a track that sums up many a millennial’s opinion on bands over the years, taking aim at the fact that those you placed on a pedestal through your formative years can often turn out to be quite the disappointments. Catchy, punky and a little grungy, this is one of those songs you want to hear in a dive bar with a plastic cup of beer in hand.
Buried In Spring – Integrate
Release Date: 29th May 2026
The debut single from American’s Buried In Spring is a pots-hardcore effort that feels like its roots are well and truly buried in the turn of the century metal scene. Catchy throughout, with choruses that are born from the very heart of post-hardcore anda heavy dose of modern emo, ‘Integrate’ is the sort of debut that a band puts out when they’re about to take a scene by storm. These guys will be coming for you very soon and you can tell that from the sheer confidence of how the track fades away at the end.
