LED – “Your Perfect”

While it shouldn’t be, the fact that they’ve used the correct version of ‘your’ is reason enough to enjoy ‘”Your Perfect”‘ by American trio LED. Thankfully though, there’s a whole lot more to like about this band, comprised of Layne Olivia, Lockett Pentz and Edie Yvonne, and just their third ever single.
Recorded during ‘spring break’, whatever that is, there is a stream of contradictions within the song. The opening guitar is rough and raw, something that continues throughout the track and is a refreshing change from the ‘produced to within an inch of its life’ style that is all too prominent these days. The first contradiction comes in the form of the vocals. Almost to the point of being sickly sweet, there’s nothing that can be described as raw here. In fact, when you consider the pop-punk genre that LED slide into, those words accurately describe the contrast between the music and the singing.
Hold that up against the lyrical content and there’s more disparity. Here they’re highlighting themes of young love and despair, the perfect remedy for creative output and something that will continue to serve these teenagers well as they continue their musical journey.
