False Advertising – Next Big Thing
Release Date: 16th April 2026
Manchester alt-rockers False Advertising seem to be the archetype of the modern-day DIY band. The odds are well and truly stacked against them, the same way they have been for over a decade since their inception, but that hasn’t stopped them from releasing some huge songs in that time. ‘Influenza’ and ‘You Said’ are highlights from the back catalogue, but 2026 sees the band look to the future with added sharpness to a redefined sound.
Taken from their upcoming second album, The Sorry Window, ‘Next Big Thing’ is driven by a beefy bass line and catchy riff that together should be enough to get any crowd moving. As if that wasn’t enough, Jen Hingley’s vocals have an added punky layer that has modernised the whole vibe of the band, with lyrics that take aim at that inner voice that seems hell-bent on self-sabotage. If you manage to catch False Advertising live any time soon, this song has all the hallmarks of being the set highlight. ‘Next Big Thing’ is the track where everyone lets loose and bounces the worries away, singing at the top of their lungs.
