New Music Roundup – 8th July 2025

Hell Hotel – every broken part.

Release Date: 25th June 2025

Taking a serious amount of inspiration from the peak of emo and wrapping it in a modern hard rock package sees British rockers Hell Hotel release ‘every broken part.’, a song whose title itself tells you everything you need to know. Oozing energy from its very start, ‘every broken part.’ is what you’d expect if My Chem dialled their frustrations up a little, with the clean vocals adding a new dynamic to the sound.

Lord Jane – Kaleidoscopes

Release Date: 30th April 2025

With a new EP due later in 2025, Irish rock outfit Lord Jane figured it was only fitting to put a new track out to tide over their growing legion of fans. ‘Kaleidoscopes’ combines self-declared themes of growth with twinkly math rock guitars and vocals that weave a story over the top. While their debut EP, Tulips, is enough to keep you happy until the new record drops, ‘Kaleidoscopes’ provides a delightful contrast to it, showing the bands development, even within such a short space of time.

Tess Grey – The Day She Stole God

Release Date: 13th June 2025

Gritty and moody, ‘The Day She Stole God’ is the latest track from Tess Grey and tells the story of Grey’s friend repossessing a cross from a derelict church. The dramatic alt-rock epic combines flowing guitars with dark lyrics delivered all wrapped up in a blanket of south-Florida craziness. A broody track with a fun bassline.

BBQ Pope – Content

Release Date: 20th June 2025

Canadian punks BBQ Pope are looking to bring back more than just names that make you double take with ‘Content’, a track that takes on consumption culture at its very lowest point. With vocals reminiscent of The Dirty Nil, guitars that wouldn’t be amiss in the 90s Brit pop scene and an overall vibe that merges punk with shoegaze, ‘Content’ is a real thinker.

Grave Secrets – BLUFFSIDE

Release Date: 13th June 2025

American punk in the more traditional sense from Grave Secrets as they put out ‘BLUFFSIDE’, a manically energetic track from the four-piece that at most points feels like way more than the sum of its individual parts. Catchy and melodic in equal parts, the highlight comes following the lull of the “nah, nah nah, nah” section as things return for another bop before the middle section.
