New Music Roundup – 17th February 2025

Last Resort – Guns Of War

Release Date: 17th January 2025

The debut track from British rockers Last Resort doesn’t quite sound how you might expect if you grew up on Papa Roach. ‘Guns Of War’ is a straight-laced, old-school rock track, the type that has that riff and goes with it for almost five minutes. Vocals from Chloe Chadwick that would have thrived in the 80s elevate the track nicely.

Baby Said – 123

Release Date: 11th January 2025

Baby Said is a sister-duo based on the south coast and new track ‘123’ is everything you might want from a modern sounding hard rock track that doesn’t bow down to the pressure to over-produce. ‘123’ is the sort of song you want to hear in room with a sticky floor. Gritty and atmospheric from the start but with super clean vocals. Get ready to sing along loud to this one.

GOOSENECK – Anserine

Release Date: 9th January 2025

Another debut single, this time from alt-rock trio GOOSENECK. ‘Anserine’ is slow and brooding out of the blocks but comes alive in true grungy style in the choruses. The highlight of this track is how the groove builds through the first couple of minutes before becoming what feels like a completely different song as you approach the end.

Tough Love – DAYDREAM

Release Date: 17th January 2025

Introspective and emotionally driven, ‘DAYDREAM’ does a great job of living up to its name. From the start there is so much going on that it can feel a little overwhelming, but as the song goes on it creeps into that section of the brain that embraces the chaos and it starts to make sense. This one is a mover.

Nadia Varh – R!OT

Release Date: 17th January 2025

Catchy pop-punk alt-rock from the USA has ‘R!OT’ earworming its way into your brain. Good luck sitting down as Nadia Varh‘s catchy vocal lines drive a track that will have you dancing and chanting back the simple yet entirely effect chorus. A riot indeed.

Nini Music – GĀN BĒI

Release Date: 17th January 2025

Taiwanese alternative metal outfit Nini Music do a fantastic job of combining traditional instrumental styles with a variety of vocal elements brought together with a headbanging middle section. Get ready to learn some vocals that aren’t in English for once and then chant them back!

Sleep Stage – Death In Those Arms

Release Date: 17th January 2025

Raw and downright filthy, ‘Death In Those Arms’ is just the second single from British hard rockers Sleep Stage but will have you wanting more than this and ‘Love At First Bite’ within seconds. Some songs capture the energy of live music and ‘Death In Those Arms’ has you wanting to shout “yeahhhhh” back at them through each subsequent chorus.

Circus – Puppies

Release Date: 27th December 2024

The ultimate throwback punk track, ‘Puppies’ from British punks Circus is as raw and abrasive as punk used to be before the modern middle class took control of it. It’s hard to imagine that any of the instruments used were anywhere near new or even made it through the recording. This is one to drink beer and shout along to.

Polo Lounge – Burnt Tongue

Release Date: 17th January 2025

Four-piece Kent alt/indie-rock outfit Polo Lounge are trying to take us back a couple of decades on recent single ‘Burnt Tongue’. Their third song in as many months from this new outfit sees inspiration coming from those massive indie favourites of the noughties, with some added atmospheric electronic elements thrown in to dial up the cool. Hitting those high notes is going to be a challenge.

KOLLAPS\E – UNDERTOW

Release Date: 9th January 2025

Swedish post-metal in the form of ‘UNDERTOW’ brings all-encompassing guitars and an insane amount of power. Accessible where some post-metal fails to be, there’s an intensity that feels like how metal should feel. This track deserves to be played loud.
