NOL K – ADORE ?
Release Date: 1st January 2025
Resisting the urge to adjust your speakers during the intro of NOL K’s ‘Adore ?’ will be difficult with it’s ‘out of tune radio’ sound. Once that dissipates though, a post-grungey hard rock track that just doesn’t really sound like anything you’ll have heard before. Chaotic yet melodic, bassy yet clean, this is almost certainly the best music you’ll have ever heard out of Brunei.
To Be A King – Whispers
Release Date: 9th December 2024
Modern metalcore with a filthy vibe, ‘Whispers’ from American outfit To Be A King is a powerfully intense track, unrelenting vocally and musically. The song combines electronic sounds throughout with huge riffs and some filthy vocals. It isn’t the most unique track you’ll have ever heard, but if you’re wanting something to quieten the noise in your brain, there are so many elements in play here that there’s loads to focus on.
Dirty Blonde – Polly
Release Date: 16th January 2025
British duo Dirty Blonde are taking the two-piece rock band market and pulling it along by the horns. ‘Polly’ is both modern and classic at the same time, featuring a tone that could have originated at any time in the past half a century, combining that with a contemporary feel and vocals that feel almost like they’re engaging you in conversation. It’s this personal feel that will have this pair pushing on quickly.
USURY – Can’t Let Go
Release Date: 8th November 2024
‘Can’t Let Go’, a track from late 2024 from American rockers USURY, a one person act that writes, records, mixes and masters everything, defies any thought that this could just be one person. On the face of it, ‘Can’t Let Go’ is a simple song but the intricacies come from the atmosphere that is created. It’s like being transported back a couple of decades but with added heart.
MAKEITSTOP – Brazen Bull
Release Date: 13th December 2024
Post-hardcore-y and a little math-rock-y too, ‘Brazen Bull’ is about as ‘alt’ as you can make a track while still being completely accessible. Clean vocals backed up by shouts with an intricate guitar line that tickles its way underneath the surface. A fun song that will have you in awes of the musicianship while trying to sing along on first listen.
