A funky bit of alternative rock from West Chester, PA (USA for those from anywhere else in the world than there) is brought to us by Fall Awake. Taken from their latest album, Beautiful Come Undone, ‘Otherside of Down’ starts life a slow, almost plodding rock track that builds and builds throughout the first 90 seconds into an almost ferocious punk-infused song. Expressive vocals pushing the track up anther step.

DAYTIME TV – So Sick

Release Date: 3rd May 2024

Fans of British alt-rock like Don Broco may have a new favourite on the way in the form of DAYTIME TV and ‘So Sick’. With verses that echo those Befordians and choruses that feel more like the good bits of QOTSA, ‘So Sick’ is set to be a summer anthem that fills headphones and pits equally. You’ll know when someone is listening to this because the swagger in their walk will be unmistakable.

Desolance – Throne Room (feat. Scott Kennedy)

Release Date: 31st May 2024

Some tracks come with an aura. There’s just something there from the first couple of seconds that pulls you in and you just can’t hit skip. ‘Throne Room’ has that before you even notice that Bleed From Within’s Scott Kennedy is on the track too. Proggy metal on the very accessible end of prog, the harsh vocals are crisp, the guitars are heavy but restrained. There’s a pit that is going to be exploding to this track near you soon.

Last Penance – Divide & Conquer

Release Date: 14th April 2024

Polish metalcore mob Last Penance returned a couple of weeks ago with new album Heathens and the electric ‘Divide & Conquer’ is one of the biggest tracks to have come from it. Booming guitars and powerful drums combine with vocals that feel themselves like a punch in the gut. Good luck keeping yourself still while listening to this. It will have you move and your face contorting as well as anything released this year.

Beauty School – Reaper (feat. Dan Campbell)

Release Date: 22nd May 2024

The latest track from Leeds alt-rockers Beauty School sees them team up with The Wonder years vocalist Dan Campbell to put out a soaring midwest emo-esque track that will soothe even the coldest of hearts during this ‘summer’ that we’re having. Written whilst on the road together, the track is both tender and raw and is one of those songs that you just have to learn the lyrics to so you can scream them back.
