New Music Roundup – 2nd June 2024 – Part 2

The Chris Ruben Band – Parasite

Release Date: 24th May 2024

Sometimes a big of good, old-fashioned rock ‘n’ roll is in order and while the sun is shining there’s little better to blare out. The Chris Ruben Band are obviously in agreement as ‘Parasite’ has all the hallmarks of those 70s and 80s rock bands, but with a modern melodic twist thrown in too. A Hendrix-esque guitar line kicks us off and is an immediate draw before various clean yet gritty vocal styles are used, often within the same line. ‘Parasite’ is just begging for some accompanying dancing.

Telling Secrets – Closer

Release Date: 24th May 2024

With a new album out on the 14th of June, it’s high time that Telling Secrets were being blared out of your speakers. As pop-metal becomes more and more popular there are going to be bands trying to take it in various different directions and this trans-Atlantic outfit are pushing the pop side of it heavily with the crisp vocals and soaring melodies alongside heavier riffs. Think your favourite 00s pop mixed with the heavier side of Linkin Park.

Gut Health – Conversation Lost

Release Date: 1st April 2024

American rockers Gut Health are killing it in 2024 and even though it’s been out for a while it would be remiss of us not to feature ‘Conversation Lost’. Another track that pulls on the rawness of punk and the gritiness of grunge and packages them together with an alt-rock undertone. It feels like if they keep the quality as high as it is there’s a breakout on the horizon. Go give them some of your time and help it happen!

The Mighty Saint Pancras – Lucky Jim

Release Date: 8th May 2024

Rocky-punk from England’s capital sees ‘Lucky Jim’ as the latest single from up-and-coming rockers The Mighty Saint Pancras. Fuzzy vocals roll the decades back and a catchy bassline and drum beat enhance that almost retro feel on the song. This is the sort of song that plays in timetravel movies where the main character goes back to when things were ‘better’ and has a little boogie with a local. Fun stuff from start to finish.
