Monashee – Widow
Release Date: 18th May 2024
Modern vibes pour out of German alt-metal outfit Monashee‘s latest track, ‘Widow’. Hauntingly twinkly guitars are backed up by post-hardcore-esque vocals through the first verse and as their intensity builds towards the chorus the atmosphere of despair does too. Said chorus provides a softer, American rock radio-style respite before the return of those intensely dark vocals from before. Whilst the opening minute is certainly the strongest, there’s a strong foundation laid by the band here.
Gaylips – Smashing Your Head Against A Brick Wall Is A Full-Time Occupation
Release Date: 19th April 2024
Don’t you miss when song titles used to require the full track length to read and comprehend? Apparently, so do Gaylips, or at least that’s how it looks with ‘Smashing Your Head Against A Brick Wall Is A Full-Time Occupation’. Punk with all the attitude, the track is vocally raw and musically chaotic. Clubs and pubs beware, punk may well be back on the menu.
The Party After – Blast Off
Release Date: 14th April 2024
It’s midwestern rock from The Party After, but with a little bit more grittiness than you’d probably expect from a band in that area. ‘Blast Off’ is a huge track, one that treads many lines when it comes to American rock. Vocally deep and emphatic, uncomplicated guitars and drumming that keeps the track moving at a decent pace. Think Sevendust but a bit cleaner.
BITE DOWN – Decolorized
Release Date: 18th April 2024
Swedish metalcore with a side of industrial tones thrown in for good measure sees ‘Decolorized’ descend on the world. BITE DOWN aren’t doing things by the book. Whilst the opening has feels like you’ve probably heard it before, as they introduce more hip hop-styled beats into the equation things start to feel a little bit more unique. A fun track that will have you of your feet.f
