We had Rebecca chat with Anthony from LOVELOST and here’s what they got into:
Hey guys, thank you for taking the time to talk to us today.
Let’s start with how are you?
We’re great, thank you!
You’re a relatively new band, How did the band form, and what inspired your musical direction?
The band started off as a project between Tobias and Sam which soon evolved into a more serious one. Since then they seeked out more members and soon found Ed then Anthony.
Since then we have been full speed ahead with writing material, practicing and getting our music out to the world!
What do you think sets your sound apart from other bands in this genre?
We are all old emo boys at heart but huge fans of modern day metal, post hardcore and music in general. We’ve blended elements of old school emo with modern sounds to create a unique soundscape.
You’re getting ready to release “Pulling At Threads” how has the run up to that been so far?
It’s been great, the video was a lot of fun to shoot and we’ve loved the process from start to finish.
Can you tell us about your creative process when writing songs?
Our writing is quite sporadic and more irrational than planned. If we have a melody or tune stuck in our head we’ll get it down and go from there, sit on it or write a whole song should we catch a wave of creativity.
Are there any specific themes or messages you aim to convey through your songs?
All of our songs are vulnerable and ways to express difficult moments in life should it be from bad relationships with people, anxiety or depression that we have faced, loss etc.
It seems morbid but for us it’s a cathartic experience and hopefully can resonate with people who choose to listen to us.
You recently got signed to Year Of the Rat records which is a great achievement, how did you all feel when that happened?
We were absolutely elated. Since the day we have been signed YOTR have been extremely supportive and have helped up immensely with our releases.
How do you anticipate the band evolving or expanding in the future?
As we release our next batch of songs we are currently practicing our live set to ensure we are ready to play live and put on a hell of a show.
We are going to aim to play live towards the end of the year but it will all come down to what opportunities may arise.
Can you share any upcoming projects or releases we can look forward to?
We are planning on releasing singles throughout and towards the end of the year so make sure to keep an eye out for new music through 2024.
We always have to ask a stupid question here so if you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?
