Introducing: Dying Habit – Celestial

Dying Habit – Celestial

Release Date: 1st March 2024

Welsh bands tend to be a little underrepresented in the UK scene. When they hit though they go big and Dying Habit are the latest band looking to take that step up. ‘Celestial’ is the track they’re hoping will lead the charge and push them on. Their first release for 18 months or so sees them build on their established sound with deep, meaningful lyrics delivered with a unique vocal style. The hard rock stylings behind move between soft and heartfelt to pounding and back delightfully. If you’re looking for something just a little bit different – Anglesey is the place to go!

Heya, thanks for taking the time to talk to us today! For those living under a rock, can you tell us a bit about yourselves as a band?

Hey! Yeah we are 4 guys based on the rugged island of Anglesey, fronted by me – Nathan – a brooding and emotive vocalist. We hurl out potent alt-rock framed by hooky refrains, backed by the pulsating rhythm section of Mark Jones (drums) and Daniel Garner (bass); the band is completed by the cultured riffery of guitarist Alan Hart. We’ve all got regular jobs and our own lives but we love to join forces to rehearse, do gigs and push our music as far as we can

You’ve just released new music, can you tell us a little about it and what it means to you?

‘Celestial’ is a song that explores what it would be like if we never slept. We spend half our lives asleep in a place we know nothing about apart from our dreams and nightmares. I’ve always found that really fascinating

Do you have a favourite track on there or is it like picking your favourite dog breed?

The tracks are all quite different on the album so everyone likes different ones. Mine personally is ‘Celestial’, the lead single.

Can you give us an insight into how you write tracks and has this changed as you’ve become more comfortable working together?

We’ve always written songs pretty much the same way. Usually our Guitarist Alan will come up with an initial idea on guitar. We then all write our own bits creating the finished track. My lyrics come from day-to-day experiences, feelings and emotions. Much like my art, they are way of expressing my thoughts onto paper and then incorporating them into the song

What was the original inspiration for you wanting to get into music and is the current style where you thought you would head?

Yes, the style we have now is exactly where we want it to be. It has evolved over the years but we’ve always tried to stay close to that early 90s feel. For me it was when I used to hang out with a band in my early teens that inspired me to start my own band

Do you have any upcoming plans you’re excited about?

Yeah, the release of our latest album as well as doing gigs and writing new material. We are always striving to improve and push our music

What’s the ultimate goal for the band? Headlining major festivals, playing a certain venue or just having as much fun as you can?

All of the above really. It would be a dream come true to headline major festivals but just being able to carry on with what we’re doing is success for me

Outside of the day to day band life, what gets you up in the morning?

Outside the band I am a professional fine artist who specialises in painting landscapes. It’s definitely my other big passion

Finally, are there any bands that you’d like to give a shout-out to?

For me it’s gotta be Therapy? They have been and still are a huge influence We would also like to give a shout out all bands making original music and keeping the live music scene going despite the difficult times in the industry.

Thanks for your time! Is there anything you’d like to say or promote while you’re here?

We would love Our album The Chaos Of Silence to be promoted as much as possible and we feel it deserves to be heard. We’ve put our hearts and souls into creating this album.
