ELVIISE – I Will Carry You
Release Date: 28th December 2023
Swedish melodic hard rock outfit ELVIISE have released their latest track ‘I will carry you’ in the past week and the song sees them taking a step away from previous tracks and the slightly softer vibe that they brought. Whilst vocally the track is still delightfully delicate, there is a large soundscape that exists behind that ranges from almost east-Asian inspired sounds through to more power metal riffs. What’s for certain is that there is no few seconds alike on ‘I will carry you’.
Heya, thanks for taking the time to talk to us today! For those living under a rock, can you tell us a bit about yourselves as a band?
Thanks for having us! Well, you’re not that late to the party. Elviise started releasing music in August 2020, the debut album came out in November 2021 and the current constellation was formed only a year ago with a vastly new sound.
You’ve just released new music, can you tell us a little about it and what it means to you?
Our single ‘I will carry you’ could be described as the anthem for Elviise. With Elviise, we bring up our inner fears and sorrows to the surface in order to learn and grow as humans and become the best versions of ourselves. ’I will carry you’ is about the moment when you realize that you can no longer keep pushing your troublesome feelings away anymore. You need to face them, you need to listen to them, you need to change.
Can you give us an insight into how you write tracks and has this changed as you’ve become more comfortable working together?
It varies. Sometimes the vocalist enters the room with a chord progression along with lyrics and melody and we all mutate it to something we find worthy. This just happens to be the way ’I will carry you’ was constructed. Other times the lead guitarist has been up all night composing demos that are basically done instrumentally, then the only thing left is for the vocalist to add the topline. Sometimes we just jam something into existence together in the rehearsal space.
What was the original inspiration for you wanting to get into music and is the current style where you thought you would head?
Music has always been a big interest in each of our lives and bands like TOTO and AC/DC were early inspirations for us to start picking up our instruments. The world is a boring place without music and music is therapy. We don’t want anyone to feel alone in their feelings like we have done.
Elviise started out with pop/rock so no, we’re definitely not where we thought we were heading. We have a sweet spot for metal but due to societal norms on what kind of music would suit our vocalist’s voice, we stayed where it was more ”safe”. Soon we realized life is too short to care about such things, now we’re doing whatever the hell we want to. Even though hard rock is the core in Elviise today, we experiment a lot with many genres and song structures. There’s no limit to what will come out of us, you’ll see.
Do you have any upcoming plans you’re excited about?
Hell yes! We’re finishing our second album as we speak, ‘I will carry you’ is the first single from it so there’s a lot more music coming your way! And we have just launched a Patreon page for Elviise where we’re going to share some exclusive behind-the-scenes content and let members get to know us on a deeper level with personal videos etc, looking forward to that!
What’s the ultimate goal for the band? Headlining major festivals, playing a certain venue or just having as much fun as you can?
Connect with listeners, hopefully be a safe place were you feel that you can be your true self and of course we’re all about having fun along the way, 100%.
Outside of the day to day band life, what gets you up in the morning?
It’s hard to get better at things when you are sleeping all day 🙂
Finally, are there any bands that you’d like to give a shout-out to?
Of course! Thanks for the inspiration Metallica, TOTO and wait, the lead guitarist shouts in the background about some bands called Brain Drill and Pacific Death.
Thanks for your time! Is there anything you’d like to say or promote while you’re here?
