Albums of the Year 2021: Kaine Crilley

As we wave goodbye to 2021, the Hardbeat team have been busy working hard racking our way though our favourite releases of the year to provide you with the customary run down of the best-of-the-best. Kicking things off for this year is photographer and writer Kaine Crilley! Let us know what made it into your lists!

1. Holding Absence – The Greatest Mistake Of My Life

There is no doubt that The Greatest Mistake Of My Life will feature somewhere in many people’s end-of-year album lists and with good reason. Now ‘in colour’, the foundations upon which Holding Absence have won the affection of so many are still firmly in place. Raw emotion runs throughout the record, connecting with the listener via mutual human vulnerabilities, dealing with the sensitive topics of love and death. The phenomenal vocal performance of Lucas Woodland is flawless when it comes to conveying these emotions. TGMOML is truly special and lays down a huge marker for British post-hardcore.
