Metalcore is a funny old genre. Much maligned in the metal world but having spouted bands that are towards the top of festival lineups around the world. The one problem that bands are facing now is how they set themselves out from the myriad of bands out there. Ovtlier are attempting to do this by just writing catchy and fuck songs that combine chunky riffs with powerful vocals. Simple as that.
‘Spineless’ is a simple track in that respect, big intro, a heavy ploddy drum beat that almost feels like a military march and vocal styles that are complimentary, dragging the whole song together in a choatic harmony. Keep your ears out for Ovtlier, they mean business.
