Hailing from Finland to support Ice Nine Kills are Cvlt Ov The Svn. Describing themselves as ‘occult murder pop’, we weren’t too sure what to expect. Considering this was their first live gig, I was impressed with their stage presence. Playing tracks from their EP Luna In The Sky Forever such as The Murderer, the crowd seemed to like them and get warmed up for the main act.

Having just released a music video for IT Is The End, themed around the most recent IT film release, I’m not surprised to see a red balloon attached to a mic stand as the stage is set up. As a lot of their tracks and their overall theme is based on horror films, we’re met with black roses, a chainsaw and gloves, and frontman Spencer Charnas dressed in a mask and claws like Freddy Krueger.
Kicking off their set with The American Nightmare, and a change of outfit for Merry Axe-Mas (a Santa hat and an axe of course), the crowd are dressed to impress with the occasional clown painted face.
A full energetic set takes a step down with their track Love Bites, that got everyone belting the lyrics back at them. The energy soon comes straight back as they go through tracks The Nature Of The Beast and Hell In The Hallways, and finishing their set with IT Is The End. Each band members’ characters shine through with their characterisation, bold themes and power that didn’t seem to stop. If you haven’t seen Ice Nine Kills live, you are definitely missing out and you need to see them.
