Katharos began in 2017, once again was a project formed by one man; Fire. The man responsible for Elgibbor, Fire Throne, Ithiel, and Nuclear Blaze. Fire began writing music, but not alone.
Fire hired Taberah, a friend of Fire’s, to perform drums, while he performs vocals and guitars. By July 2017, the two joined together with two past members with Frost Like Ashes, a band Fire had been a part of, Sebat and Azahel, and Ascending King frontman Ruah, performing live with Fire’s project Elgibbor, the first time the band ever played live.
Katharos have released two songs, “Stay My Captain!!!” and “Warrior”. Both strong extreme metal songs; they’re heavy with a fast tempo yet atmospheric and melodic. Fire utilises ‘classic’ black metal vocals; they’re raspy and grim as you’d come to expect but what’s suprising is they aren’t used for cold, evil, and frightening lyrics but inside uplifiting and inspiring like:
“Stay my Captain
Anchor to hope as this vessel breaks
Stay my Captain
Raise the sails and be the wind to carry me”
And
“Scream for help to the one who created you
He will change your life and make you stronger”
These tracks are both strong black metal tracks which unsuprsingly led to Nosral picking them up. . The band is preparing to re-release them through Nosral and i’m excited to see what else they will bring out in the future.
