Ramonda Hammer – The Panic
Release Date: 13th June 2025
When a song comes in at over five and a half minutes long, especially in these modern days and ages that people keep saying we’re living in, it can seem a little intimidating. Luckily, American alt-rockers Ramonda Hammer make that time fly by on ‘The Panic’, their latest single released a couple of months ago. Yes, we’re late to the game bringing it to you (sorry RM), but it’s worth the wait as it builds through borderline shoegaze sections into a powerful and emotive track which spends the last few minutes pulling the listener to and fro.
Megg Jacobs – ego
Release Date: 20th June 2025
A pulsating and powerful track from Megg Jacobs sees ‘ego’ become one of those songs that you find yourself blindly hitting repeat on. Taking inspiration from modern titans such as Poppy, ‘ego’ is as good an introduction to Jacobs as you could wish for an will have you reaching for even more of a pummelling from all seven songs released so far. We can’t wait for more!
The Overjoyed – Rotten Love
Release Date: 1st July 2025
Toning things down a notch or two are Greek punk rockers The Overjoyed. Recorded in Athens, there’s a swagger throughout ‘Rotten Love’ that undercuts the personal message that the song is based on. After a decade of being a band, it’s pretty clear that they’ve found their groove and if you’re a fan of early punk done with a modern edge, ‘Rotten Love’ is the perfect entry into Greek rock.
Perpetual Paradox – Backbone of Existence
Release Date: 20th June 2025
Taken from their latest album, Deathwish, ‘Backbone of Existence’ is one of the highpoints of Perpetual Paradox’s career to date. Bursts of frenetic energy are interspersed with cleaner sections that together bring stories to life between the ears. Finding new music is one of life’s great pleasures and here it feels like you’re being let in on the ground floor with an album you’ll have on repeat just ready to go.
Lost Velvet – Wasted
Release Date: 6th June 2025
‘Wasted’ is just the second single from 90s throwback alt-shoegazers Lost Velvet. Nothing can quite prepare you for what happens as soon as you hit play. The song doesn’t burst out of the blocks in a ‘blast-beats’ kind of way, but it feels like you’re just joining a movie a few minutes in. With elements of grunge amidst the shoegaze, there’s so much to get your head around on ‘Wasted’.
