Goodnight Kid – House (With A Balcony)
Release Date: 29th May 2025
New from the north east of England, ‘House (With A Balcony)’ is the debut single from a band that feel like they’re doing their best mid-west emo Funeral For A Friend impression. Delicate and twinkly in places, emotionally heavy in others, ‘House (With A Balcony)’ will appeal to emo’s that are both elder and…not. Getting in on the ground floor with a band is a special feeling. Go do it with these!
SANSOM – Call Me
Release Date: 23rd May 2025
Heartbreak has been the ultimate creative aphrodisiac across centuries. Countless songs inspired by lost love and, in SANSOM’s case, cheating. ‘Call Me’ is the latest soundtrack to break up and thankfully falls on the more energetic side of rock. Alt-rock through and through, this Brighton-based solo artist is building a lovely little niche with catchy songs that you’ll be bopping to in no time.
Slightest Clue – Jamie
Release Date: 27th May 2025
Alt-rock and shoegaze collide delightfully on ‘Jamie’, the latest track from Slightest Clue. A band that just have to play 2000trees Festival at some point, these Canadian rockers bring the gloomy darkness that shoegaze exudes together with alt-rock’s catchiness on a track that is full of energy while taking an emotional toll. One to dance around drinking red wine to.
Ahsoka – Pretty Machine
Release Date: 20th May 2025
Punky alt-rock goodness from Brighton trio Ahsoka in the form of ‘Pretty Machine’ is a welcome return from a band that have such an important voice in alternative music. Taking aim at a culture that still has women pigeonholed into looking ‘right’ or facing ridicule, ‘Pretty Machine’ is a fiercely powerful track that showcases dark vocals, exciting drumming and energetic rhythms as the backbone. Ahsoka are well and truly back.
Switchdown – Get Out
Release Date: 6th June 2025
Alt-rock from the Midlands is experiencing quite the boom at the moment with bands like Mouth Culture leading the way so the likes of Switchdown can run. ‘Get Out’ is the latest track from the trio who pull from that style with vocals that have more than a tinge of Jamie Lenman to them. Riffs are the main dish on this menu and they’re just utterly delicious. Get this track on and loud and you’ll find yourself restarting it over and over.
Durry – More Dumb
Release Date: 3rd June 2025
Taken from their upcoming album This Movie Sucks, ‘More Dumb’ is the latest single from American rockers Durry. There’s singalongs, existential crises and the video has puppets. Oh, you need more convincing to listen to it?! Well a track that spends three and a half minutes growing until it feels like it’s wailing at you inside your brain shouldn’t need much more introduction really.
No Limitations – Stubborn
Release Date: 3rd June 2025
Punk rock from across the Atlantic, ‘Stubborn’ is as exciting at it is big. From the very start there’s a barrage of gritty guitars and frenetic drums that are accompanied by lyrics far cleaner then expected but with plenty of depth to them. At less than two and a half minutes the song ends a little too abruptly, but this is their first track of the year so consider the appetite whetted.
Breath After Coma – LUNATICS
Release Date: 27th May 2025
Hard rock powering at us from Greece sees Breath After Coma put their take on the more North American style of radio rock. Taking inspiration from the likes of Shinedown, but with some more industrial style elements in there for good measure, ‘LUNATICS’ is riffy and chaotic in places. We don’t get too much music coming out of Greece, but if this is the standard that’s a massive shame.
TBK – No Future No Past
Release Date: 4th June 2025
The debut track from British rockers TBK is a raw introduction to a band that feel like they aren’t going to be easy for the elitists to categorise. Proggy, emo-y, alt-rocky, there’s a bit of everything on the go here and with vocals that feel deliciously unrefined and plenty of talent on show throughout, there’s at the very least a chunky cult following out there who are still mourning the loss of the likes of Black Peaks.
Secreum – Metamorphosis
Release Date: 23rd May 2025
Within seconds of ‘Metamorphosis’ attacking your ear drums it is abundantly clear that Secreum mean some serious business. The track is like a punch to the guts for the opening 20 seconds before it opens up into a barrage of riffs accompanied by dual vocals that complement each other delightfully. It’s heavy but oh so groovy.
Badflower – Snuff
Release Date: 6th June 2025
With a new album due out on the 20th of June, No Place Like Home, American rockers Badflower have released the second teaser song in the form of ‘Snuff’ – a song so catchy that you’ll likely still have it bouncing around between the ears. The highlight of ‘Snuff’, once you’re over it not being a Slipknot cover, is the vocal flow, bordering on soft rap in places before launching into huge catchy choruses. That or the fun little trade off for a potential copyright issue. This is album is going to be massive.
